Alaska Migratory Bird Co-Management Council (AMBCC)

AMBCC Kodiak Regional Management Body

With funding from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak acts as the representative for all of the Kodiak Archipelago Tribes on the Kodiak Archipelago Regional Management Body for the Alaska Migratory Birds Co-Management Council. Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak is also the regional coordinator for all of the Kodiak Archipelago Tribes in working with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for gathering subsistence management data and traditional knowledge for the benefit of local Tribes.

Kodiak Regional Management Body Meetings are held in the Spring (February or March) and Fall (August) at Sun’aq Tribe of Kodiak to review and make recommendations on any regulatory proposals received for migratory bird harvests. Concerns by the Kodiak AMBCC are then brought forward to the Statewide AMBCC Meetings in the Spring (first week of April) and Fall (late August/early September). The Kodiak AMBCC Chair or Alternate Chair attends these meetings on behalf of the Kodiak AMBCC.
