Resolution Passed Requesting Support for Federal Recognition

The Shoonaq' Tribe of Kodiak passed a Resolution requesting support from President Clinton, Senator Stevens, Senator Murkowski, and Congressman Young. The tribe formally requested the issue of granting federal recognition to the tribe be taken out of the hands of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and a legislative remedy be provided due to the delay in granting federal recognition.
