During the April 20, 2002 Kodiak Tribal Council organizational meeting, Teri Schneider was nominated and voted in as the new Tribal Chairperson.

On May 1, 2002, The Shoonaq' Tribal Center was relocated from its previous occupancy on Rezanof Drive to a new location at 312 West Marine Way.

On September 27, 2002, The Shoonaq' Tribe of Kodiak opened a tribal bingo operation at the newly leased tribal center building.
